Public Involvement
Public Involvement will be a key component of this study.  The ability to build consensus among affected stakeholders and the public at large will be vital to the successful outcome of the study.  The overall goal of Public Involvement is to help ensure that the study reflects the values and needs of the community and incorporate public ideas and input.  The study team will incorporate the information collected during the various public involvement activities and ultimately use the data to aid the study team in the development of necessary improvements. Public Workshops associated with the Sunset Avenue study will be held at the Mascotte Civic Center.

This section will provide updates regarding public meetings, council meetings and any additional public involvements events held throughout the length of the study.

Public Workshop - Feb. 24th at 6pm
The City of Mascotte in association with Lake County has scheduled a Public Workshop regarding the Sunset Avenue Preliminary Engineering and Design Study.  The Workshop will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Mascotte Tedder-Thomas Memorial Civic Center, located at 121 Sunset Avenue, Mascotte, Florida, 34753The Workshop will be conducted in an open house format beginning at 6:00 pm with a project presentation to begin at approximately 6:30 pm.

The purpose of this workshop is to present the study and seek public input on the roadway improvement concept being developed.  The limits of the study are from Palmetto Drive to CR 33, a distance of approximately 1.4 miles.  City Representatives and staff from the study team will be available to discuss the project, receive public input, and answer questions.

Public Hearing - May 4th at 6:30pm

A Public Hearing has been scheduled to present the results of the Sunset Avenue Preliminary Engineering and Design Study.  The Hearing will be incorporated as part of the regular Mascotte City Council meeting on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 6:30 pm and will be held at the Mascotte Tedder-Thomas Memorial Civic Center, located at N. 121 Sunset Avenue, Mascotte, Florida, 34753. 

The Public Hearing will include an overview presentation of the recommended roadway improvement concept.  After the presentation, attendees will be given an opportunity to address the City Council during a public comment period.  At the conclusion of the Hearing, the City Council will be asked to approve the recommended concept.  Once approved, the project documentation will be finalized to complete the Study portion of the project and the Final Design phase will begin.  The finalized project documentation and conceptual design plans will be available on the project website and Mascotte City Hall, 100 E Myers Blvd., Mascotte, FL 33513.
